Within the framework of the project “Supporting Gender Equality in Education in Lebanon”, UNESCO Beirut Office has implemented a pilot qualitative field study on “School to work transition for young women in Lebanon” in 2010. The present national seminar aims to share the findings and preliminary policy recommendations together with collaboration mechanisms for follow up research among multi-stakeholders in Lebanon.

The findings of the present qualitative field research (covering 80 young female fresh graduates from 5 universities in Beirut together with universities and enterprises) lead to provide preliminary policy recommendations to improve diversified and smoother school to work transition for female university graduates.

The study provides qualitative approach to be replicated to address specific types of marginalization (region, schooling levels, disciplines…) nationally in Lebanon (outside of Beirut) and in other countries in the Arab region.
