  • Introduction
  • Many talk about Islamic finance as if it were an abstract subject like Euclidean geometry. In reality Islamic financial institutions are businesses which operate in the real world, juggling between the demands of owners, customers and regulators, and which face competition from other financial institutions both conventional and Islamic.

The speaker will demonstrate how much can be learned about two Islamic financial institutions from careful reading of their accounts. He will also discuss what this has to tell us about the Islamic finance industry at large.
