  • Introduction
  • Four out of the five of the largest oil and gas discoveries in the world were made in Mozambique last year. With leading exploration and production companies channelling their investments to support export demand, identifying how the power sector is preparing to support the massive investment in Mozambique’s oil and gas sectors is crucial.

How does Mozambique plan to use this inward investment to develop the wider industrial sector?

Mozambique is working towards establishing itself as a regional power exporter in the Southern African power pool. The Powering Africa: Mozambique Executive Dialogue, taking place this May, is focused on discussions around investment generation into Mozambique’s gas and power sectors. The meeting invites experts to examine how the commercialization of gas resources can fuel the region’s power generation and promote local industry and job creation.

A series of open debates between public and private sector leaders aims to deliver a balanced perspective on the investment requirements of the oil, gas and power sectors whilst strengthening partnerships to support the government’s plans for developing the country’s industrial and economic potential.

Why Attend - Powering Africa Mozambique:

The Powering Africa: Mozambique Executive Dialogue invites experts to examine how the commercialization of Mozambique’s gas, coal and hydropower resources will fuel growing domestic and regional power demands.

The Honorable Salvador Namburete and senior ministry officials, the regulator ( CNELEC) and state utility ( EDM) will provide project specific insights on future strategies and opportunities for investments in Mozambique’s power market.

The formatting of the meeting as a series of open discussion allows the private sector to leads discussions to present the challenges to their business development in the country whilst providing expert suggestions on how government and the private sector can work in partnership to meet the current and future needs of the market.
