- Introduction
- Pakistan has one of the highest maternal mortality ratio in the region. In 1990 the Maternal Mortality ratio for Pakistan was 533/100,000 live births and it should be brought down by three - fourth to the level of 134/100,000 by 2015. The recent statistics (2006- 2007 PDHS) show that MMR ranges between 250 per 100,000 live births in Urban areas and 750 in rural and far flung areas of the country. Looking at the current situation it seems a distant dream to achieve the MDG 5 by 2015. Considering the importance of the issue HHRD has taken the initiative to organize this conference. The conference intends to bring together researchers, practitioners, policy makers and the academia to pool in their experiences to devise a way forward for improving maternal health in Pakistan.
Objective:
To increase awareness about the serious issue of high maternal mortality in Pakistan
To encourage involvement of all NGOs / INGOs for reducing maternal mortality ratio
To indentify the gaps between private and public sector regarding efforts to reduce meternal mortalityTo launch a common forum to address maternal mortality - Useful Links
