  • Introduction
  • Mineral Industry and its sustainable development is a prime mover in the growth of a nation. India is endowed with vast mineral wealth and has a strong human resource base of geologists, mining and mineral engineers and metallurgists to help convert the mineral wealth to useful metals. The development and economic growth of India is directly related to the exploitation of its natural resources. As minerals are non-renewable, their exploitation and utilization needs to be done with utmost care and responsibility since these resources belong to future generations, as well. Exploitation of minerals needs energy which is scarce. More importantly mining and processing of minerals cause environmental degradation. Thus, sustainable mineral industry needs energy efficient and environment friendly technologies.
