It is designed to be a comprehensive review for lawyers, professionals and business people, as well as non-government organisations and government administrators working in or with mining law.

There are six sessions, with each session consisting of a lecture followed by a tutorial discussion of a problem raising the issues of law presented in the lecture.

The workshop will consist of six half-day sessions on the following topics:

the framework of mining law: the constitution, ownership and land open for mining

allocation of mining rights

surrender, forfeiture and exemption practice and procedure judicial review

transfer and dealings: registration and tenement management

environmental issues

native title.
