- Introduction
- The fifth international PBE Summit is an opportunity for delegates to discuss possibilities for future professional education with a particular focus on professionalism and citizenship. At the heart of much research into professional and practice-based education today are concepts of pedagogy that educate graduates for future practices.The conference will showcase novel and thought provoking professional and practice-based education research from across the world and Australia in a two-day schedule of presentations, symposia and interactive sessions.Questions to explore the themes of the summit include:Where in a course program is professionalism and citizenship best promoted?In economic rational times where is the curriculum space for social justice education?Who defines professionalism, professions or organisations?What is the role of embodiment and subjectivities in professional education?What pedagogies are needed for the 21st century learner and global citizen?How do we engage students in tensions of personal, professional and public interests?How are universities taking up learning spaces and places to advance professionalism and citizenship?What is the scope of professional decision making and autonomy in times of increased regulations and bureaucracy?
