- Introduction
- The bulls are out in force once more for zinc as metal production and demand growth outstrip mine supply and overall stock, while high, continue to decline. But the less optimistic will be cautioning that mine output can be turned up quite swiftly, as miners bring on stream idled capacity and brownfield expansions. Consumption is presenting a mixed picture, driven by Chine and also North America, but Europe remains at best flat. Timing will be of the essence in zinc over the next couple of years with industry fortunes depending very much on new supply tying in with closures and the impact of lower grades.
