Critical Care & Emergency Medicine Symposium - April 08, 2015 - April 12, 2015
- The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
- Las Vegas, NV, United States
- Introduction
- The program provides an ideal mix of traditional standard-of-care principles based on established guidelines together with cutting-edge recent advances applicable to the care of the critically ill. Didactic lectures on current management are featured in the plenary sessions. Updates 2015 are a series of lectures highlighting important advances. Practical skills are taught in half-day mini-courses on major subjects including respiratory management and advanced electrocardiographic interpretation. The program offers the opportunity to fill gaps in knowledge and advances in the multi-specialty and broad-based areas of critical care and emergency medicine and translate new guidelines into practice.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Identify emerging infectious diseases of the 21st century.
Discuss diagnosis and treatment of sepsis and septic shock.
Evaluate current medical advances and technologies in critical care.
Assess risks and choose practical options for mechanical ventilation.
Identify the prevention of ventilator induced lung injury and ventilator associated pneumonias.
Identify and manage acute cardiovascular crises, including chest pain, heart failure and cardiac arrest.
Describe and apply current guidelines for diagnosis and management of acute renal failure and options for renal replacement therapy.
Apply current guidelines for differential diagnosis and optimal management of both hemorrhage and thrombotic strokes.
Identify and treat anxiety and manage post-operative pain without the adversities of long term sedation. - Useful Links
