- Introduction
- The travel industry currently is booming. According to Airport Council International, globally the percentage increase in passengers year on year is 5.8%. This includes both international and domestic travelers. The Asia Pacific region poses the third largest increase in passengers with an increase of 9.9%. While there are more flights, competition is stiff, especially since budget airlines are pushing for lower costs. Non-aeronautical revenues becomes of greater importance in order to increase the airport’s profitability. Airports and concessionaires need to look at issues such as dwell time and the retail experience to encourage passengers to open their wallets.
