- Introduction
- AusBiotech 2011 national conference, with its theme Creativity, Capability & Capital is to be held in Adelaide, South Australia 16 - 19 October 2011. The annual event has earned a reputation as the industry’s premier biotechnology conference for the Asia Pacific region. It is proudly hosted by AusBiotech Limited, the biotechnology industry organisation representing more than 3,000 members, in the interests of developing the biotechnology sector in Australia.
A successful biotechnology industry needs a chain of three vital elements that are key in its ability to grow and be sustainable: Creativity, Capability & Capital.
Creativity is at the heart of the new ideas and innovation that begins in our research institutes and universities and continues into trials and commercialisation as companies mature and grow.
Capability is key to implementation in biotechnological innovation, where skills and know-how is the vehicle that drives new products and ideas through trials, regulatory approval and to the markets they will serve. Aside from knowledge in the life sciences, the industry thrives on business skills, the ability to do deals, and to market and sell products.
Capital is the ‘life blood’ of the biotechnology industry and access to it dictates the time to market. Reducing the time it takes to get biotechnologies to those who need them means faster revenues, enabling the chain to continue…
AusBiotech 2010 and associated events attracted 1,503 participants to Melbourne for the annual meeting, including 190 international delegates from 20 countries, with the largest delegations coming from New Zealand, the US, the UK, Canada and Singapore.
AusBiotech once again began its annual conference with the highly successful Australasian Life Sciences Investment Summit (ALSIS) 2010 attracting 150 invited investors from 99 organisations to view a showcase of 38 selected Australian biotechnology companies. Of the unprecedented number of attendees (256), 49 investors representing 39 companies joined ALSIS 2010 from overseas, with 19 US investor companies sending at least one representative.
The 2011 event is supported by the State Government of South Australia and BioInnovation SA. - Useful Links
