- Introduction
- The Allergy Academy is an initiative of King’s College London which is committed to providing high quality educational opportunities to doctors and allied health professionals. We are delighted to announce that we have teamed up specialists from with Northumbria University, UK Athletics as well as the Anaphylaxis Campaign to provide a study afternoon that relates to allergic diseases associated with sport. With the 2012 Olympics on our doorstep this represents an excellent opportunity for health care providers to up-skill in matters related to sports and allergy. This seminar seeks to reflect our contemporary understanding in this specialist field and will focus on sports-induced immune changes and sports-related allergies such as exercise-induced anaphylaxis, food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis, rhino-conjunctivitis and asthma. In addition, we will focus on the appropriate treatment of these conditions in order to meet the strict IOC Sports guidelines. The presentations will be interactive and presented by international experts in this field. An athlete’s perspective will also be presented. This event will be practically oriented and is designed for specialists in the fields of sports medicine, allergy, general practice, physiotherapy and sports science as well as sports trainers/managers.The Annual Allergy Research Foundation Day is running in partnership with the Allergy Academy and is taking place on Wednesday, 2nd November 2011.
