  • Introduction  
  • The Cross Egypt Challenge is a 9 days endurance scooter ride from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in the North of Egypt to the temple of Abu Simbel, on the southern borders of Egypt. 

    A journey of 1700 kilometer on scooters to promote tourism in Egypt.

    The challenge begins at the site of the modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina in the ancient city of Alexandria, passes by the Great Pyramids of Giza in Cairo, and crosses the Nile River and the Suez Canal on the way to the eastern Egyptian border at Taba. 

    The team will then head down to the cities of Neuwebaa and Dahab before reaching the world famous resort city of Sharm El Sheikh. 

    They then ferry across the Gulf of Suez to Hurghada and to continue their journey to the legendary city of Luxor; the world largest open-air museum, where they ride down the avenue of the sphinxes to reach the magnificent temple of Karnak. 

    The team continues to Aswan and further south to end the journey in front of the most famous temple of Ramses II, Abu Simbel, on the shores of Lake Nasser.

    The Cross Egypt Challenge is a non-profit initiative aiming to promote tourism, alternative sports, and alternative means of transportations in Egypt. It is scheduled to start on October 14th 2011.

  • Day 1:

    Early AM: start from Alexandria
    Ride: 2 hours + 1 hour rest + 2 hours
    PM: arrive in Cairo and overnight in Cairo

    Day 2:

     

    Early AM: photo shoot at the Pyramids
    Noon: start from Cairo
    Ride: 2 hours
    PM: arrive in Suez and overnight in Suez

    Day 3:

     

    Early AM: start from Suez
    Ride: 2 hours + 1 hour rest + 2 hours + 1 hour rest (Taba) + 2 hours
    PM: arrive in Dahab and overnight in Dahab

    Day 4:

     

    Early AM: start from Dahab
    Noon: arrive in Sharm Elsheikh, and overnight in Sharm Elsheikh
    PM: scooter maintenance

    Day 5:

     

    Early AM: ferry to Hurghada
    PM: arrive in Hurghada and overnight in Hurghada

    Day 6:

     

    Full day: Free day in Hurghada

    Day 7:

     

    Early AM: start from Hurghada
    Ride: 2 hours +1 hour rest + 2 hours
    PM: arrive in Luxor and overnight in Luxor

    Day 8:

     

    Early AM: Photo-shoot at Karnak and Valley of the Kings
    Noon: start from Luxor
    Ride: 2 hours + 1 hours rest + 2 hours
    PM: arrive in Aswan and overnight in Aswan

    Day 9:

     

    Early AM: start from Aswan
    Ride: 2 hours + 1 hour + 2 hours
    PM: Arrive at Abu Simbel and photo shoot at Abu Simbel
    PM: Final press conference and overnight in Abu Simbel

    Day 10:

     Flights back to Alexandria
