  • Introduction  
  • The Global Breast Cancer Conference is a biennial meeting of breast cancer held in Seoul, Korea. Co-hosted by the Korean Breast Cancer Society, the Korean Oncology Nursing Society, the Korea Breast Cancer Foundation and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the 1st and 2nd GBCCs were held in 2007 and 2009, respectively. 

    Originally, the GBCC was intended for academics and practitioners involved in breast cancer. But the breast cancer conferences brought together people from all walks of life including medical personnel, medical science researchers, policymakers, patients, and guardians to search for multi-scientific strategies in every field related to breast cancer, including diagnosis, treatment, research, and education, in order to get more knowledge on breast cancer and promote women's health. 

    Now the GBCC has been positioned as a multidisciplinary conference, not only for medical professionals. 

    This conference aims to draw together scientists, researchers, healthcare providers, advocacy groups, and policymakers to increase global awareness of breast cancer, enhance a better understanding of the disease and its medical treatments, and improve the quality of life of breast cancer patients. 

    1. To improve awareness of breast cancer by organizing an international breast cancer conference in Seoul, Korea
    2. To address health rights of women in relation to breast cancer prediction, prevention, detection, treatment, and survivorship
    3. To build collaboration that will promote services such as breast health education, screenings, and supportive care for women in Asia
    4. To organize potential partnerships with local, national, and international organizations for increasing awareness, screening utilization and services of breast cancer
    5. To evaluate participants' understanding of comprehensive breast cancer research and care
    6. To create a road map for promoting breast cancer research in the fields of basic, clinical, and population research.
