  •  
  • Basil is the common name for the herb Ocimum basilicum and is most often used for culinary purposes, although some varieties are use medicinally as well. Basil stems from the mint family; however it tastes quite a bit different with a sweet, aromatic flavor. Dried basil is stored in jars for winter use and also used in soups, salads and various dishes. Dried Basil contains vitamins, minerals, folate and dietary fiber, as well as protein and carbs.
