- What is Calcium Chloride
- A deliquescent salt and used as a drying agent and to melt ice on roads and contains from seawater. It also has a greater capacity than other salts to attract and retain moisture directly from its surroundings, which enables it to dissolve faster and start the melting process. As a firming agent, calcium chloride is used in canned vegetables. It is commonly used as an electrolyte in sports drinks and other beverages. The extremely salty taste of calcium chloride is used to flavor pickles while not increasing the food's sodium content.
