  • The fruit of a tree, Macadamia ternifolia (with hard-shelled nuts) and M. integrifolia (with softer-shelled nuts), originally from Australia, developed in Hawaii and now grown worldwide. Macadamia nuts are much more expensive than most other types of nut. The nuts contain much fat but are a good source of minerals and vitamin B. It has a rich and slightly sweet flavor. It's used in various confections.
